Frugal Fail

We were really making progress, then we reverted right back to our old ways.  While I am disappointed, I’m not giving up.  I really didn’t enjoy myself the way I had hoped, and the after effects of guilt and a poor nights sleep are losing their appeal.  I would really like to find other things to do, but it really is fun and easy to go out to eat and drink.  However, the return on investment is diminishing and I’m getting rather bored.  Plus, we’re broke.

So, why do I keep suggesting it?

  1. I really like to have my husbands undivided attention. I enjoy the way we discuss things and come up with ideas.
  2. I don’t really enjoy cooking.
  3. I like to drink wine, away from home.

Alcohol has become the way I relate to everyone outside my house,  Woody and I spend a lot of time together and it’s natural that he will be the one I act out with  But what can we do instead?

  1. Eat at the dinner table with the tv off and enjoy each others company.
  2. Listen to music while we make dinner so we can chat.
  3. Pre dinner walk.

We’re not just trying to save money, we’re trying to break years of habits we enjoy and find something else to do instead.  It’s a tall order and one that should not be given up on even if it takes a while to make it stick.  We sat down and talked about how to approach the rest of the month, and we agree that planning is key.  I will have more positive things to report next week, and that is something for me to look forward to.

Do your thrifty best!

Lisa
